The Scandi Sconnie has been an idea that has lived in the back of my head since I was 17 years old. Now, as a 23-year-old about to enter the real adult world, I figured what better time to try this out than right now? My aesthetic is something I have labeled "ScandiMerican" which is an effortless blend of Scandinavian and American ideals and design all wrapped into one. Whether it's designing my room with hygge decor or traveling around the great state of Wisconsin, I am a walking image of both my Scandinavian heritage and my Sconnie (nickname for Wisconsinite) upbringing.

The Scandi Sconnie strives to provide insight into my ScandiMerican design and lifestyle by providing tips on how you can balance cozy and calmness while still having that fast-paced energy to achieve your goals. Who says you can't have both?

Let's Get Personal

My name is Sarah Smith and I currently live in Wisconsin, the most underrated state in the U.S. I enjoy cheese curds (squeaky and fried) with a Wisconsin-brewed beer, and I do say words like 'bag' funny. I am also Norwegian, 76% Norwegian to be exact (shoutout to Ancestry DNA for that number) and I have grown to incorporate my heritage in nearly everything I do. Beyond all of that, I enjoy writing and creating. I have always said that I have an artistic mind but not artistic hands, sadly painting, drawing, or sculpting is not a talent of mine. My artistic talent is expressed through words. It was always a dream of mine to spend my days free-writing which is what motivated me to say "screw it" and create this site where I can achieve that.
